Lacking Control
Us humans are definitely control junkies. We don’t just like control, it is something we need in the same way like breathing, eating and sleeping. It is completely wired into our biology. From an evolutionary perspective, control has always meant survival. If you could predict where the dangerous animals were, when to get the food, or whether that sound in the bushes was a friendly person or a lion, well… then you had a definite edge. Those who controlled their environment lived to pass on their genes. Those who didn’t… well, we can safely say they became part of someone else’s food chain and did not survive! If we fast-forward a few millennia to the present moment there is plenty of evidence that we still crave the same predictability.
